My Experience
I have been interested in art all my life and began sketching at a very young age. Throughout my working life I have had many jobs that incorporated a degree of artistic expression. Initially, I took an apprenticeship in signwriting, following my working in that trade for some 5 years I studied graphics at the Melbourne College of Decoration and began my new career as a graphic artist. After moving to London I began teaching Drawing and Watercolour classes at Hendon College which I continued for 5 years. While I did teach Computing as my main subject for the majority of my teaching career my first love has always been art. In more recent years I discovered a strong interest in Botanical Illustration and have found it to be a most rewarding sphere of artistic expression. Another direction for my art in recent years has been portraiture and also painting images of pets and wild birds.

My Services
People, Pets, Landscapes plus beautiful Flora and Fauna.
There are often different images that have meaning for us either from now or the past. I have created portraits from photos taken many years ago that speak fondly of times past. Ideally, I like to take photos of the subject and find out some of the history that surrounds the person or pet or subject involved. However, sometimes this isn't possible especially if the person or pet is no londer with us. As long as you can supply me with a few reasonable images we can discuss the possible layout of the final image. Then, I can produce a painting that pleases you and stimulates happy memories. It could even be your old home town or favourite landscape. I have also added images such as this in the background of portraits as well.
Portraiture
When you look at some of the great artists portraits you will see that they often include props and other information about the sitter. This is a concept that I enjoy exploring when attempting to represent not just the image but some element of the sitter's character. I have been asked in the past to create a suitable image of a deceased person and have found this to be a strong yet rewarding challenge. Portraits don't have to be just of an individual they can also be of family members together.
Pets and Fauna
You may think that painting a dog or a cat is a straight forward process yet like human portraiture animals can display elements of their own character. They are often considered as a much loved member of the family so a painting of them can be a cherrished reminder as their life spans can be considerably shorter than ours. Also animals from the wild including birds and fish can make unique studies.
Botanical Art
Botanical subject matter can offer us a splendid reminder of the wonder of nature. Exotic flowers and even common everyday plants when presented as a botanical specimen can present a strong visual comment on the complexity and beauty of the natural world. I have painted many orchids as I have a particular love for these fragile and often complex plants.
Landscape
The walls of many homes will already have a landscape painting hanging on them as it is a subject matter that offers a lot of depth and variety and can take us out and away from our urban environments. While most paintings are often of spectacular vistas some are aimed at reminding us of our former homes and earlier lives.
